Child Disability Payment

Child Disability Payment (CDP) will be rolled out across Scotland on 21 November 2021 for new claims. Once CDP is rolled out, if your child is currently getting Disability Living Allowance (DLA), her/his DLA will continue until s/he is transferred to CDP.

In most cases, you will need to claim CDP for the child. You will be able to make a claim online, by telephone, on a paper form or face to face via the Social Security Scotland (SSS) local delivery service.

If you are currently getting DLA and are ordinarily resident in Scotland, you will be transferred to CDP without having to make a new claim. In most cases, SSS must make a determination that you will be paid CDP at the same rate as your DLA. Your DLA will stop when your CDP starts to be paid. You will not be expected to undergo an assessment.
